Workshops
TAPA offers a range of workshops, from private coaching to ongoing workshops throughout the year. For all levels. Beginners get the opportunity to try out acting. Semi-professionals can join TAPA to work on their personal skills or experiment with techniques such as Meisner, Chubbuck and Moss.
The ongoing workshops also serve to keep actors in physical and emotional condition in preparation for an upcoming role or audition.
Classes are taught in Dutch and/or English.
INTRODUCTION
Meisner & Chubbuck technique
The INTRODUCTION workshop consists of 10 lessons spread over a 10-week period. We meet once a week.
This workshop offers you a unique opportunity to learn from proven methods used by world-famous actors, including Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, and Jack Nicholson, Naomi Watts, Christoph Waltz, Jake Gyllenhaal, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, etc.
It is a hands-on training with techniques such as Meisner and Chubbuck, taking your acting to the next level.
As an added bonus, at the end of the workshop your scene will be professionally filmed. These recordings will be mounted and collared by our team, giving you a ready-made scene for your showreel or future castings. You will experience exactly what it means to be on a film set stand and put down a scene that showcases your best acting. Watch some scenes filmed during previous workshops below!

THE PLAYHOUSE - This workshop is a continuous weekly meeting place for the advanced actor.
The first step is to work with existing scenes from films and plays.
⇒ The finished scenes will later be recorded and shown in class.
It also uses original work generated by The Playhouse members in addition to traditional scene work. It is an incubator for ongoing creative and personal development.
It is an important idea to embrace the actor as an entrepreneur/creator as well. I encourage all students to come up with original scripts in addition to scene work. Don't wait for auditions, create your own work!
Some essential questions we use to work on a scene are:
- What does the scene tell about my character: age, physical condition, socio-economic class....
- What literally happens to my character in the scene?
- What is my objective? What do I want to achieve in the scene at all costs?
- What is at stake?
- What stands between me and what I want to achieve (what are my obstacles)?
- What is the consequence if I don't reach my goal?
- ….
- Start:
➤ Every first Thursday of the month - 7pm to 10pm
- Location: De Veerman (Marialei 25, 2018 Antwerp)

SELF-TAPE WORKSHOP
SELF-TAPE Workshop - In recent years, the audition process for actors via self-submitted tapes has quickly become the preferred method of casting directors. 90% of all 1st round auditions for film, theatre and television are now held by self-tapes. This requires actors to develop the appropriate technical skills to conduct a successful self-tape audition.
The advantage today is that you can film auditions in the comfort of your own home. You can make as many takes as you want until you have the ideal tape.
Besides, you no longer have to take time off to audition, and you save lots of travel expenses.
The workshop consists of 6 working weeks. After these sessions, the actor will have performed 6 scenes from 1 film or play - including 2 takes per scene.
In short, you are going to have created a total of 12 self-tapes.
In this workshop, you will be taken on an exploration of the practical and artistic requirements for making effective self-tapes.
The sessions include practical "do's and don'ts", as well as in-depth and creative script analysis. In this workshop, you will also:
- Shoot two completely different takes per scene;
- Discuss the technical requirements for making a self-tape such as background, lighting, wardrobe;
- Each week you will be sent feedback and Nicolas will give you a new challenge each time that you need to prepare for the next self-tape.
- Location: Online
- Start: You can start this workshop any time.
- ⟹ Deadline for submitting a self-tape is always on the Sunday of that week.
